Charity Event (Gerald Estate)

Charities play a vital role in helping people in needy because of different reasons, either of emergency, sudden illness or loss of parents.  The hospitality class identified one child at Gerald Estate who is an orphan, and raised funds to help the needy child. Money and clothing’s were raised and were donated to the child. Participation in community events has become a part of modern life, both in rural and urban settings says (Bleijie, 2013). The hospitality students found it fit for them to take part by organize such event in the community they live in. The event took place at the child’s yard.

Consultation with key stakeholders

According to Bleijie, (2013) it very essential to communicate with key stakeholders when develop and plan such events. The key stakeholders of that charity event were social workers, Gerald chief, police and the community. Stakeholders were consulted to discuss on issues pertaining the services, venue and food and beverages for the event. The communiqué for the event was successful because everyone who was invited showed up at the event. Bodwin et al, (2012) describe event communication as delivering of information’s to the public and provision information to event staff and the efficient operational system of the event. The invited guests were prepared for this event, as the chief had his motivational speech printed well in advance.
